Functionally Literate, the reading series run by Burrow Press in Orlando, presents Akbar Shahzad, winner of the Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction and  Sarah Pinsker, winner of the Nebula & Sturgeon Awards Functionally Literate pairs the best writers in Central Florida with visiting writers from all over the world, bringing contemporary literature to the city of Orlando. Our past Functions have featured a slew of talented visitors, including the Director of the National Book Foundation, Lisa Lucas; National Book Award-finalist Lauren Groff; the award-winning Portuguese novelist Jacinto Lucas Pires; and the great Southern writer Padgett Powell.  Free but RSVP!
